House Passes Bill to Extend Federal Govnernment Funding
House Passes Bill to Extend Federal Government Funding and NFIP Through Tuesday, October 4
Post: September 29, 2011
This morning, the House passed a short-term funding bill that will prevent
a federal government shutdown and lapse of the National Flood Insurance
Program (NFIP), both of which were slated for tomorrow, September 30. The
House was able to pass this bill via unanimous consent, which did not
require all members to be present.
The four day spending bill will keep the government open and extend the
NFIP through next Tuesday, October 4. This will give time for the House to
return to Washington, D.C. after their recess and pass a longer-term
funding bill on Tuesday.
Next week, the House has the option to pass the Senate's modified
continuing resolution (CR), which extends federal government funding and
the NFIP through November 18.
